Renaming and Organising Leases
Clear lease naming makes it easier to find specific agreements, especially for properties with multiple historical leases.
Naming Conventions
We recommend including the following in your lease name:
- Year or period — e.g. "2024-25".
- Type — e.g. "AST" (Assured Shorthold Tenancy), "Periodic", "Fixed Term".
- Tenant — Optionally include the tenant's name for quick identification.
Examples:
- "2024-25 AST - J. Smith"
- "Periodic Tenancy - The Johnsons"
- "2025 Fixed Term"
Renaming a Lease
- Open the lease detail page.
- Click Edit Lease.
- Update the Lease Name field.
- Click Save Changes.
Sorting and Filtering
On the property's Leases tab, leases are sorted by:
- Status — Active leases appear first, followed by upcoming, then expired.
- Start Date — Within each status group, leases are sorted by newest first.
Multiple Active Leases
It is possible to have multiple active leases on a multi-unit property (one per unit). Each lease appears independently in the leases list.
Tip: Consistent naming across your portfolio makes it much easier to search for specific leases and review your history.
