Editing an Existing Lease
You can modify lease details at any time to reflect changes in the tenancy agreement.
Steps
- Go to the property or unit and click the Leases tab.
- Select the lease you want to edit.
- Click Edit Lease.
- Update the fields you need to change:
- Lease name, start/end dates.
- Rent amount or payment frequency.
- Payment day.
- Click Save Changes.
What Changes Affect
- Rent Amount — Changing the rent amount updates future payment periods. Past periods remain at the original amount.
- End Date — Extending the end date generates additional payment periods.
- Payment Frequency — Changing frequency recalculates future payment periods.
Lease Status
Leases have the following statuses:
- Active — The current date is within the lease term.
- Upcoming — The start date is in the future.
- Expired — The end date has passed.
- Periodic — No end date set; the lease continues until terminated.
Tip: When changing the rent (e.g. annual increase), edit the lease rent amount and Latch will update all future periods automatically.
