Creating a New Lease
A lease links a tenant to a property (or unit) and defines the rental terms.
Steps
- Navigate to the property or unit where the lease applies.
- Click the Leases tab.
- Click Add Lease.
- Fill in the lease details:
- Lease Name — A descriptive name (e.g. "2024-25 AST").
- Start Date — When the tenancy begins.
- End Date — When the fixed term ends (leave blank for periodic).
- Rent Amount — Monthly rent in your configured currency.
- Payment Frequency — Monthly, weekly, fortnightly, or quarterly.
- Payment Day — Which day of the month (or week) rent is due.
- Click Save Lease.
Linking a Tenant
After creating the lease, link a tenant:
- In the lease detail view, click Add Tenant.
- Search for an existing contact or create a new one.
- Select the tenant and confirm.
Payment Periods
Once saved, Latch automatically generates payment periods based on the frequency and start date. Each period tracks whether rent has been received.
Tip: You can create multiple leases on the same property to represent different tenancy terms over time.
