Linking Tenants to Leases
Every lease should have at least one tenant linked to it. Latch supports both single and joint tenancies.
Adding a Tenant to a Lease
- Open the lease detail page.
- In the Tenants section, click Add Tenant.
- Search for an existing contact by name or email.
- If the contact does not exist yet, click Create New Contact and fill in their details.
- Select the tenant and click Link to Lease.
Joint Tenancies
For joint tenancies, repeat the process to add multiple tenants. All linked tenants appear on the lease and are included in communications.
Removing a Tenant
- On the lease detail page, find the tenant in the Tenants section.
- Click the remove icon next to their name.
- Confirm the removal.
Note: Removing a tenant from a lease does not delete the contact. They remain in your contacts directory.
Tenant Portal Access
Once a tenant is linked to a lease, they can be invited to the Tenant Portal where they can view their property details, report maintenance issues, and communicate with you.
Tip: Always add tenants to their lease so payment records and communications are properly linked.
