Managing Multi-Unit Properties
For properties with multiple units (e.g. a block of flats, an HMO, or a converted house), Latch lets you manage each unit independently.
Enabling Multi-Unit
When adding or editing a property, toggle Multi-Unit on. This reveals the units manager where you can add individual units.
Adding Units
- From the property detail page, scroll to the Units section.
- Click Add Unit.
- Enter the unit details:
- Unit Name — e.g. "Flat 1", "Room A", "Ground Floor".
- Bedrooms / Bathrooms — Number for this specific unit.
- Floor — Which floor the unit is on.
- Square Footage — Optional size information.
- Click Save Unit.
Managing Units
Each unit functions like a mini-property. You can:
- Create separate leases for each unit.
- Track payments and expenses per unit.
- Assign different tenants to each unit.
- View unit-specific reports.
Unit-Level vs Property-Level
Some information applies to the whole property (address, mortgage, insurance) while other data is unit-specific (lease, tenant, rent amount). Latch handles this automatically.
Tip: Use consistent naming for units (e.g. "Flat 1", "Flat 2") to make searching and reporting easier.
