Contact Types and Roles
Every contact in Latch has a type that determines their role and how they interact with the system.
Available Types
Tenant
People who rent your properties. Tenants can be:
- Linked to leases to track who is renting which property.
- Invited to the Tenant Portal for self-service features.
- Sent communications like rent reminders and maintenance updates.
Contractor
Tradespeople and maintenance providers. Contractors can be:
- Assigned to maintenance tickets.
- Discovered through the AI agent's contractor finder.
- Linked to expenses for their invoices.
Supplier
Businesses that provide services or goods. Suppliers are used for:
- Expense tracking — Link expenses to specific suppliers.
- Invoice management — Record supplier invoices.
Agent
Letting agents or property managers. Agents can be:
- Linked to properties they manage.
- Contacted for viewings and tenancy administration.
Other
Any contact that does not fit the above categories (e.g. solicitors, accountants, neighbours).
Changing a Contact Type
- Open the contact detail page.
- Click Edit.
- Change the Type field.
- Click Save Changes.
Tip: Accurate contact types help the AI agent understand your relationships and provide better suggestions.
